I think the time it took me to respond to photographer Dominic Whiten after he sent me this shoot, was close to the speed of light, and I’m sure you can tell why – how cute are these photos? A fabulous collaboration with makeup artist Andrea Lewis who has worked in TV industry on shows like the BBC’s ‘Over the Rainbow’ and ‘How do you solve a problem like Maria,’ along with ITV’s ‘Take me Out,’ Dominic met Andrea at a wedding he was photographing last year and was delighted to be approached to work with her on creating a series of images for her new website. (Stay tuned!)
Dominic also enlisted the help of Helen of Polly Pictures (www.pollypictures.co.uk) to help out on the day who also happens to run a wedding car service with her vintage VW Beetle (www.pollypootles.co.uk). Look out for a shoot featuring Pootle in the near future…
And of course, thats not all, as Helen also very kindly loaned her wedding dress for the shoot. Its a gorgeous silk gown from Blue Bridalwear (www.bluebridalwear.co.uk), and the petticoats just screamed out for a bit of a retro twist to the shoot. Agreed. Where to begin about the things I love in this shoot? I am in the midst of planning my engagement shoot at the moment and at times I have about 30,000 props, a million colours and my H2B thrown in there somewhere. I think people (like myself) often make the mistake of having too much going on in photos and the focus (ie. bride and groom) sometimes get lost. The beauty of this shoot is that I think it strikes a perfect balance of accessories, colours and landscape. I love the juxtaposition of the bright red suitcase and shoes with the muted tone of the background and the fur coat is the perfect touch!
Whilst her website is under construction, Andrea can be contacted through Dominic at firstname.lastname@example.org. She’s available for weddings in London and the South-East – and of course make sure to head on over to Dominic Whiten’s website and blog for more info.
