An Elegant English Summer Wedding with a Hint of French Vintage – Rob & Laura

One of the many pleasures I get from having a wedding blog is that I get to feature my friends (some after many months of gentle pestering!) and today is no different. I’m so excited to feature this amazingly chic English summer wedding featuring a colleague of mine, Rob, and his stunning wife Laura! I definitely had to hold back when Rob showed me some of his photos last year after returning from his super cool safari honeymoon, and I am totally honoured that the two decided to share their day on the blog. I know that Laura is an expert on wedding blogs so thanks for choosing OMG!

Aside from cake, nothing makes me more excited at the moment than knowing that summer is on its way. Bring on the English summer and more weddings that are as beautiful as this one! (If that’s even possible). Rob and Laura were married in June of last year at Chiswick House in London. Chiswick House is such a gorgeous venue that seems to offer a countryside setting in the middle of London. I just love the atmosphere and the surroundings, they provide a really beautiful setting for weddings and photos.

While the bride and groom didn’t initially have a theme, Rob and Laura designed their invites referencing old French perfume and soap labels, and the wedding seemed to take on the colours of an elegant English summer with a nod to French vintage – lavenders, greys and coffee colours. (LOVE THIS!) The pair also designed their own menus and table signs.

Laura wore a gorgeous Grecian inspired dress by Alice Temperley and her shoes were from BCBG, while Rob’s suit was by Emporio Armani, and his shoes from Church’s. The bridesmaids accented the colour palette with beautiful subtle grey dresses by L.K. Bennet. The stunning jewelry photographed below includes Laura’s Antik Batik bracelet and Bijoux Heart earrings.

The beautiful bouquets and centerpieces were created by Mark and Charlotte at The Urban Flower Firm, silver candle sticks were borrowed from a friend, and the candles were from Brissi. Last but not least, can we please talk about the super cute teeny bird cake topper featured below? ADORE.

Advice from the Bride
Don’t worry about every last detail – although I’m a sucker for the little visual details and wanted everything to look just right on the day, when it comes down to it guests tend to remember the overall feel of your wedding, rather than the minutiae. And last, but not least, free flowing booze is essential for a fun party atmosphere!

Any regrets?
Only that I no longer have an excuse to trawl wedding blogs – I still do it because I love the photography and the design detail but it does make me look like a bit of a psycho when I get caught.

Best decision made
English weather is always really hit and miss in the summertime, but we took the risk and opted for a June date. I woke up on the morning of our wedding to brilliant, bright blue sky and my memories of the day are light-filled, sunny and warm – you can’t beat a British summer!

Thanks so much to both Rob and Laura for sharing your beautiful day and also to their photographer Philip Durrant! Make sure to check out his website for more beautiful weddings.
