I always think its hilarious when my friends ask me if I am going to go into wedding planning after I get married. After all I have a blog and I love weddings so surely it would be an easy and natural transition right? OMG no. While I am massively obsessed with my own wedding details and those of every feature on this site, I don’t think I could handle being a wedding planner, and I for SURE don’t have the skills for it! I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for planners and the king of the crop, Mark Niemierko, is someone to aspire to.
Having seen his work first hand at the St. Valentine’s Day party earlier this year, I can personally vouch for his awesomeness. Attention to detail and appreciation of luxury are just the beginning. Mark is not only amazing at his job, he’s easily one of the most charming men I’ve met (aside from my H2B of course) and he is now offering the chance to learn his tricks of the trade to a select number of students. The Niemierko Wedding Academy will be held at The Dorchester this May and will help equip its students with the tools and contacts to become wedding planners of quality in the future. OMG.
In order to reveal his best secrets, Mark will be joined by a host of industry leading experts, including renowned florist Rob Van Helden and celebrity make-up artist Maggie Hunt, with more names to be revealed in the lead up to the first course. I often think the first key to throwing a fabulous party or organising an amazing wedding is to know where to start, who to call and how to get ahold of the best people in the business. Check.
Each day over the course of one week, students will be offered a real insight into the ‘Niemierko world’. Mark and his team have planned a meticulous schedule ensuring pupils cover all aspects of how he organises, creates and oversees a couples wedding. This will cover the process of planning, wedding etiquette, budgeting, bridal fashion and beauty, Q&A sessions and a typical food and drinks tasting within The Krug Room at the Dorchester. In addition, the course also covers how best to create a wedding day around a couple through a flower class and visit to Covent Garden flower market, mood boards, production design,
selecting tableware, furniture, lighting and entertainment. The days are broken down into concise classes, between which breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and the odd glass of champagne will be served.
Each student will also walk away with The Niemierko Little White Book, which lists all Niemierko’s much-loved and tested suppliers, and a copy of The Niemierko Wedding Album, a hard back photo book of weddings designed and planned by Mark.
The Academy’s inaugural master-class will commence on Monday 9th May, with further classes planned for 2011.
