Following last night’s amazing Bridesmaids the movie screening thanks to the lovely Charley of London Bride and Universal Pictures, I have of course been doing a lot of thinking about my own favourite girls. Some of you may have read on Twitter that I was whisked away to NY for my surprise hen do a few weeks back which was one of the most amazing trips of my life. Sure, we ate loads of delicious food (like truffle and chicken meatballs!!) and did loads of shopping (hurray for purchasing 2 bridesmaid dresses!) but what made the weekend the most enjoyable for me was the fact that I have never laughed so much in my life. I don’t know what it was – although the combination of cupcake overload and jetlag probably didn’t help, but we just could not stop laughing. And I don’t really even think anything terribly out of the ordinary happened – no crazy over the top embarrassing moments, or colossal foot in mouth type situations, I don’t think I fell over or ran into any doors, we just laughed at the small, silly nuances that you have when you have awesome friends.
This, I think, is what true friendship is, and is what was so refreshingly nice about the on screen chemistry between actresses Kristen Wiig and Maya Rudolph. I think my 2 favourite scenes in the film were probably the most subtle in terms of humour – obligatory over the top scenes comic aside – but also the most normal. I won’t go in to loads of detail as I don’t want to spoil any of the many funny moments, but I think when you see it (because, hello. you HAVE to) you will agree that the instances where friends are just being friends, acting goofy, doing horrible dance moves and joking around in a coffee shop, are completely synonymous with why you love YOUR best friends. It is these moments that remind me of why I love mine.
So on that note, I’m afraid I’m going to love you and leave you with the reminder that friends last way longer then anything else you’re going to have at your wedding (except your marriage of course! that would be a tie…) they are much stronger and more fashionable than the season’s hottest shoes, and way more priceless than a custom made couture gown, they make you feel way better than chocolate and cake and they are by far one of the most precious parts of your day and life. I value every single one of my 8 (yes 8.) bridesmaids and could not have gotten through half the things in my life without them. They are so super special and I love them to pieces. Aren’t they all so cute?!?!?!? I am just so lucky. Anyone else feeling the same way?

A truth beautifully told Alexis. And, love the piccies of your and your maids. Enjoy this happy time with your besties, and you will enjoy the memories for years and years, I’m sure. Lovely to meet you, albeit briefly last night x
Nothing like your besties a great post, and of course the movie was great too!
So true, Alexis. What a lovely post! The film just made me want to gather my girlies up for a massive hug and cocktail session!
Cx
Awww! You are so right, and what a lovely post and take on the film
I too found those same scenes the most heartwarming as they were natural humour – as you say the little quirks that you laugh at when you are with your friends are silly and subtle but the most meaningful (I have to say the ‘impression’ scene from the film got me crying with laughter). Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for coming! xxx ps – how HOT are you lot!!
A tad weepy and all the same beaming after reading and looking at this post, Alexis – What a great gabble of friends you have, one for taking you all the way to NY for your hen do, and being the ones you can have the best time EVER with!
Not watched film yet so cheers for no spoilers.
