This morning I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the gorgeous Temperley bridal salon and shop in notting hill to see the Ophelia collection which launches officially today. Having been to the salon a number of times with my best friend who wore the incredible dragon dress on her wedding day, and also to try the collection on as a bride to be myself, it was a bit different walking in as a blogger.
The beautifully eccentric decor never ceases to amaze and reminded me of what a special brand Temperley is. The approach down a tiny little mews street alone makes you feel more like you’re visiting someone’s (amazingly stylish) home and the salon is full of eccentric pieces of furniture much like would find in someone’s sitting room. Surely Alice must be an interior designer as well.
One of my favourite bits has to be the zebra striped rug that to me epitomises the attitude of the Temperley bride. She may be bridal, wearing a gorgeous French lace long sleeve dress or a gown covered in embroidery, but she is also a bit rockn’roll and totally cool.
The juxtaposition of flowing, draping fabrics with chunkier studs and beads like in the Goddess dress above is effortlessly awesome and extremely unique.
What’s also nice about this collection is the fact that it has expanded to include a variety of styles in addition to the bohemian silhouette that has become synonymous with the Temperley bride. There are a few princess styles in this year’s repertoire and what’s even more exciting is that there will be two collections this year, the next one launching with even more goddess inspiration. In additional to the stunning workmanship and exquisite attention to detail is the ever-so-clever and special elements Alice has handpicked to be sewn into the seam, for the bride’s Something Old; a vintage 1920’s button, Something New; a sequin from the new collection Something Blue; a small piece of hand embroidery.
Alice describes the collection – “Our brides always wear the dress rather than being worn by it, and they can dance all night, look beautiful and also feel themselves which is something that should never be forgotten on their wedding day. ’ Alice Temperley, MBE
Last but certainly not least brides should take note of the new accessories available. Refreshingly graphic and decadent in nature I am absolutely in LOVE with the headpiece shown below. Having lusted after the accessories in the editorials over the past few years, I can only hope they will expand the range even more!
Temperley dresses are available at their salon in West London but will also be sold wholesale to additional stores worldwide so stay tuned for more info!
Thanks so much to lovely team at Temperley for having me this morning and cannot wait to see some girls in these dresses!
And now for a few very amateur shots of the shop by yours truly…
