Good evening everyone, today is a double-whammy Q&A day on the blog with top tips and chat from the wedding industry’s finest. Tonight’s post is all about introducing you to the lovely Morgane & Jonny of M&J Photography, one of my newest sponsors. These two are experts in shooting weddings in England and France and have a fabulous background in documentary photography to ensure you’re shots will be classy, chic and timeless. Take it away guys…
1. OMG Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hey, we are Morgane and Jonny, a French/English duo based in London and Biarritz. Jonny has been a professional photographer in London for a number of years and has had his work published in many newspapers and magazines. With bachelors and masters degrees in documentary photography, he has extensive education in the field. Jonny believes deeply in finding beauty in everything around us through photography, so of course that doesn’t stop at weddings!
Morgane is the French connection. She brings that touch of glamour and classic continental style that, let’s face it, we all need in our lives. The beautiful surroundings of her home town of Biarritz in the Basque Country inspired her love for photography. She loves taking photos that make the most of the natural beauty of her subject. When it comes to romance and all things pretty, who does it better than the French?
We like to think of ourselves as taking a magazine style approach to the weddings we shoot. Whilst it’s fun to be quietly observant, to watch and wait to capture those wonderful moments that best tell the real story of the day, we also very much enjoy producing beautiful couples photos, pretty portraits and quirky detail shots that wouldn’t look out of place in the glossiest of bridal magazines!
Most importantly we are confident that we can put the bride and groom at ease on their big day and produce wedding photography that will remain timeless.
2. Describe yourself in 3 words
Friendly, dedicated and stylish
3. What do you wish all couples knew about you?
We’re really flexible and love the challenge of being creative. So whatever it is you want from your wedding photos we relish the opportunity to provide you with consistently beautiful, unique and timeless images. And we’ll have fun doing it!
We predominantly shoot weddings in France and England, but (just like everyone else) we LOVE to travel.
4. If you could give brides 1 tip, what would it be?
Relax and enjoy being with the ones you love, then everything else will fall perfectly into place.
5. If you could give grooms 1 tip, what would it be?
Take some time out in the day alone with your new wife. It might be the only chance you get to pause, be calm together for a moment and create a memory that isn’t all a blur.
6. Any wedding / wedding industry pet peeves?
Amateurs posing as professionals – black and white pictures with red flowers. weird wide-angle extreme-tilt photos. ugly, outdated photoshop gimmicks.
7. Where do you see your business in –
1 month – Beginning the wedding season in Bordeaux wine country whilst continuing to attract more interest in our work through wonderful wedding blogs such as OMG!
1 year – Fully booked for 2013 after an exciting year of working in Europe and beyond. Hopefully having managed to have had some of the stunning wedding’s we’ve photographed in Provence, Dordogne, Bordeaux, Canada and London published around the bloggersphere!
5 years – To be THE in demand wedding photography duo, busy shooting the most sumptuous weddings in paradise locations around the globe!
8. Anything else you want to share?
We really feel passionate about raising the expectations of brides (and grooms) to be when it comes to booking a wedding photographer. We see no reason why our clients should expect anything less than the technically perfect and visually stunning photos they’ve been dreaming of. It is incredibly important to us that the photography does not let the side down on the big day and we fully understand the importance of keeping up to the high standards set by all the other vendors involved.
