Introducing OMG Sponsor Kat Hill!

Good afternoon everyone! I have a super cool new sponsor to introduce you to today, the super duper London based wedding photographer Kat Hill! Not only have I met this lovely lady in person and can attest for her fabulousness, but she has also just launched a brand new website and rebrand that is gorgeousness all over. So. Without further adieu, take it away Kat!

1. OMG Tell us a bit about yourself?
Hi! I’m Kat and I’m a photographer based in East London. I grew up in Hong Kong but have been living here for about 8 years now and it’s definitely home. Wedding photography is the best job in the world – what other job starts the day with champagne, is filled with love, laughter, tears and cake, and ends with a big old party? I’m dead lucky that I can be part of that.

I love to travel – my other half Tom and I love nothing better than getting away once in a while. I think we’re both inherently nosey about what the world is like, and what people get up to. Being half Chinese, I also have a bit of a food obsession and travelling is awesome for that.

I’m also a recovering shoe-a-holic. My brides get a lot of photos of their wedding shoes!

2. Describe yourself in 3 words
OMG this is tough! Curious, genuine, dedicated.

3. What do you wish all couples knew about you?
I spend a lot of time getting to know my couples before their actual wedding day. I really don’t want to just be the stranger who turns up and starts shoving a camera in your face. I’m here to help tell the story of you. For me, good photography is all about empathy, about understanding what and who you’re trying to capture.

4. If you could give brides 1 tip, what would it be?
I’ve yet to take a bad photo of a smiling bride. So even if you’re feeling a little nervous or stressed, smile it out! You’ll feel better and look amazing.

(Oh, and bring flats to change in to at your evening reception. You might be able to rock a heel all day, but you never know…sorry, I know that’s 2 tips! I have loads!).

5. If you could give grooms 1 tip, what would it be?
Bring a spare copy of your speech! I’ve seen speeches lost, smudged and stolen by groomsmen…

6. Any wedding / wedding industry pet peeves?
Not so much of a pet peeve, but it makes me sad when couples feel like they have to do things in a way that pleases and accommodates everyone. Couples should always feel free to do things how they want.

7. Where do you see your business in –
1 month – It’ll be hectic as wedding season will be in full swing!
1 year – Looking back on having provided an amazing experience for all my 2012 couples, and looking forward to getting to know and having a blast with my 2013 couples.
5 years – Pretty much doing the same! But with 5 years of growing, learning and loving what I do.

8. Anything else you want to share?
Just my email address: (and cute kitten videos, but that’s probably not appropriate!). I love hearing from brides and grooms and chatting weddings so drop me a line!

Make sure to check out Kat’s new website for more details!
