A Springtime Wedding with Purple + Yellow Details – Sarah & Gavin

Hello OMG readers! Hope you had a lovely sunny weekend and are ready to kick start another week full of wedding goodness. This afternoon I’m pleased to share with you a gorgeous wedding celebration captured by Katie Drouet Photography featuring a beautiful couple, Sarah and Gavin!

The bride and groom were married last month at the Riverside Hotel in Mildenhall, Suffolk and chose a spring time yellow and purple colour scheme for all their decor and flowers including daffodils, tulips and hyacinths with some purple statis, september daisy and irises. Sarah says “the bouquets and button holes were put together by local florist Langtons and the table displays were the efforts of myself, Jane and Nancy (bridesmaids) and Jen. I had spent a few weeks scouring charity shops for the vases and jugs, plus keeping empty glass food jars which we then decorated with purple ribbons and raffia for the final touches.”

Sarah wore a beautiful dress from Maggie Sottero and accessorized perfectly with some super cool Irregular Choice shoes, along with her family heirloom wedding ring which has been in the family for over 100 years. She also wore a pearl necklace given to her by one of her bridesmaids, all of whom were dressed in Coast limited edition gowns.

Last but certainly not least – the couple’s stationary designer was Sam Symonds who created bespoke watercolour artwork for the invitations and also created a logo which was featured on the caricature artist’s paper and other signs, quiz sheets etc.

Any advice from the bride?
My advice would be to make it as personal as possible… involve friends where possible (for example Sam with the artwork and Tina, a friend who runs Cakes Beautiful Cakes made the cupcakes and our son, Jacob’s birthday cake), if you like tea and cakes, have tea and cakes. If you are a relaxed person, have a relaxed day… don’t get carried away with the traditions and just do it because everyone else does! We had a cupcake wedding cake so as to avoid the whole cutting of the cake, no standard speeches, no first dance.

The only one I can think of is that I didn’t get to speak to everyone I wanted to, and for as long as I wanted to. The day went so fast. Oh, and I didn’t eat very much… too busy having fun to make the most of the lovely food!

Best Decision Made
That is a close contest between my dress and our amazing photographer!!! She captured the very essence of the day… looking back at the photos, it is so easy to re-live every moment!

Thanks so much to Katie Drouet Photography for sharing this lovely lovely day!
