An Autumnal Ian Stuart Inspired Bridal Shoot in Dorset

Nothing says high volume drama like an Ian Stuart dress and his 2013 Supernova collection is not an exception. This morning’s feature is all about autumn and brought to you by the Dorset Wedding Creative – a group of wedding professionals who work together on a variety of projects. Tracy of Wedding Time Bridal Salon says “…having stocked Ian Stuart dresses for over 7 years, I knew that the new Supernova 2013 Collection would be brilliant for the Autumn Marie Antoinette theme we wanted to create for the photo shoot.”

Helen of Salon on the Square provided hair design and Teri of Murakami Photography (and ex-professional make-up artist) worked together to create a look based loosely on the theme and brought in Nadine of N.K.W. Weddings, Angela of Angela’s Floral Design & Lisa of Lisa Notley Wedding Cakes for all the decor and dressings.

Angela said “…after seeing the stunning designer dresses, I knew that the flower bouquets had to be very simple in design, classic ivory and white in colour, with beautiful cream antique vendella roses hand tied in a posy. With the fabulous ivory avalanche roses surrounded by natural vibernum berries and adding a modern twist of lime green with the delicate buplerum foliage, creating a more rustic bouquet. Working on the rustic feel for the antique table outside on the patio of the castle, I wanted to create a wow factor for the central vase arrangement, using painted twigs for the shape and creating height with coral gladioli and stunning orange chinese lanterns hanging from the branches.”

Helen took from Sophia Coppola’s film of Marie Anntionette, aiming for a classical look but with a modern twist: soft curls and lots and lots of height.

Last but not least the team brought in a 1940’s gramophone complete with some original 78’s by Pegasus Disco to round out the whole scene.

Photography for the shoot was provided by Dorset wedding photographers Teri and David of Murakami Photography and the whole day was staged at the Pennsylvania Castle, a stunning 18th century neo-gothic building, perched high on the cliffs overlooking the beaches on Portland in Dorset. A beautifully presented privately owned house that can be hired on an exclusive basis for wedding and functions it created a brilliant backdrop for showing off all the details for the bridal shoot.
