Hello OMG readers and happy Tuesday. I have some fabulous fashion to share with you this morning, and not only is it beautiful and vintage-licious, it is also ethically and ecologically sound. Sanyukta Shrestha’s whole collection is driven by the ethos of ‘LOVE GREEN-BELIEVE IN ETHICS.’
With her elite range of vintage-inspired bridal gown and hats collection, Sanyukta brings true romance for the brides that pick up on the best of 1920’s to 1970’s styling but with a real signature twist. Her beautifully made bridal collection not only uses eco-friendly fabrics but also boasts ethically sourced fibres in the hats, fascinators and accessories which are hand spun and hand loomed by village women in Nepal. Through blending sustainability with her ethical believes, Sanyukta intends to create opportunities for women in this area of the world, by merging and turning their traditional skills into delicate fabrics and exquisite designs.
Sanyukta’s collection also caters to brides who react adversely to chemically treated clothes. Fibres like hemp, bamboo, soya, milk are used in the collection so that the gown remains resistant to UV light, mold, mildew, salt water and abrasion which makes it extremely suitable for healthy clothing, especially for sensitive skins.
Sanyukta’s decision to use these natural fibres in her collection underlines her commitment to environment and development. This young designer is all set to revolutionise the bridal industry- one ethical thread at a time.
Even more impressive is the fact that one of these gowns has been preserved in the Bath Fashion Museum alongside designers like Alexander McQueen and John Galliano. Amaze.
