OMG Happy Valentine’s Day! I could not think of a more perfect feature for today. My gorgeous, beautiful, super awesome and amazing friends, Dave and Michelle who were married last October during one of the most incredible wedding weekends I have ever attended! Having known Michelle since we went to middle school together in Hong Kong, I was so excited when I found out she was moving to London a few years ago and equally excited to meet Dave, the super tall ozzie guy who managed to steal her heart. (*warning, this post only gets cheesier). I feel so lucky to have them in my life and I could not have picked a better person for my dear friend. The two are perfect for each other in every way possible and the week we spent with them celebrating in Hong Kong last year just reinforced this even more. THEY ARE SO AWESOME.
So where to begin. To start the week off right, Dave and Michelle planned a variety of super fun events from a junk ride in Hong Kong harbour, to a bollywood themed hen do for Michelle and a stag night where Dave turned up dressed like Elvis which he managed to look quite hunky in (according to my OH). Dave’s family also hosted a super chic drinks night at the top of the LKF Hotel with a view to DIE for. It is definitely worth mentioning here that these two have the most glamorous, stylish, fun and friendly friends and family I have ever met in my life. The whole week was a bit like a movie. All of these events allowed their super international guests to get to know each other so that by the time the wedding came around, everyone was ready to party.
For their big day, Dave and Michelle chose the fantastic Peak Lookout Cafe for an understated and elegant ceremony and dinner party under the stars. Words really cannot describe this venue. The ceremony took place outside, against an absolutely amazing lush green expansive view, but felt incredibly intimate as the whole balcony was surrounded by massive, draping trees which were covered in twinkling fairy lights for that extra bit of magic. Red lanterns hung from the roof and popped against blue grey skies. There ceremony began with bridesmaids walking down the aisle followed by the super sweet flower girls who carried bright yellow helium balloons that bobbed above the guests (OMGGGG). Of course by this time I was sobbing like a crazy person, but I’ve never seen Michelle look more beautiful and Dave look so handsome! It was amazing. Following the ceremony, the guests were treated to an uber luxe cocktail hour with a full on oyster bar inside the venue while the ceremony space was turned into a beautiful setting for dinner and speeches later on.
Michelle wore a STUNNING Pronovias dress which I had the pleasure of helping her pick out (OMG!) between tears of course. Michelle is the type of girl who looks good in a potato sack, so even a swipe of mascara took her to like. an entire. new. level. of amazingness. She just looked so beautiful I don’t even know what else to say. Her gown was accented perfectly with a graphic black belt, shoes from Stacatto and sparkley diamond earrings that were a gift from her father. Dave looked equally handsome in a bespoke suit from Gieves & Hawkes and the bridesmaids looks beautiful in bright yellow dresses from Reiss. All the stationery, invites and save the dates were designed by one of Michelle’s best friends and bridesmaid, Jodie Laczko.
Advice from the Bride:
Have a wedding planner for the day. Take the stress out of the day and let someone else deal with the small issues that arise.
Did not get married sooner!
Best decision made:
To have a few events leading up to the wedding (welcome drinks, hens night, bucks night, day trips). As the wedding was a destination wedding by the time the wedding day arrived, it felt like mish and I had a good amount of time to spend with every single one of our guests, which was important to us, as 170 people flew in to Hong Kong to help us celebrate.
OMG I LOVE IT. Thanks so much to Mish and Dave for sharing their beautiful day and have a good one!
